Los Angeles Rediscovered

LART6
Sometimes the best trips are the most spontaneous ones and our recent impromptu trip to Los Angeles proved to be rather amusing, delightful and unexpectedly extraordinary.

With no plans or expectations, except to spend some quality time with some of our dearest friends, Jon and I explored some areas of Los Angeles we neglected when we lived there.

Thus, here are a few places that I’m currently obsessed with:
Sockerbit
LART2
– High Quality Ingredients
– Free of Trans Fat
– No Artificial Colors
– Non-GMO

Essentially, Sockerbit is a pick and mix Scandinavian candy store. They also sell some Scandinavian specialty food and housewares.

If you didn’t already know, I’m an admirer of Scandinavian culture and style. Also, I have a big sweet tooth so this place was right up my alley.

So naturally, I’m in love with its sleek, clean, modern interior and the candy. Oh, the candy.

A few of my favorites…
SURA SKALLAR [ skull sour gummies ]
RABARBERBITAR [ rhubarb licorice with lemon filling ]
DUMLE LAKRITS [ licorice toffee covered in milk chocolate ]

Commissary
LART12
Located inside the Line Hotel in Koreatown, this refreshingly bright and airy greenhouse turned restaurant brings fresh fare to Koreatown.

LART10
Commissary is spearheaded by Roy Choi, who brought us the Kogi Truck, and predominantly features seasonal vegetables.

The menu in itself caters to the adventurous and curious, being that it simply consist of sketches of the main ingredient in each dish; leaving the customer with an element of surprise.

I know, it sounds terrifying for a control freak like myself, however, it was oddly liberating.

Also, sticky toffee pudding was involved.
So, if you’ve in LA and have never tried Commissary, I highly suggested giving it a try.
