Brand Admiration: Sir Kensington’s

SKC1

If you didn’t already know.. I’m a sucker for packaging.

You would think since I have a degree in Merchandise Marketing that I wouldn’t be susceptible to advertising, but in actuality.. I’m helpless against quirky illustrations, a sucker for catchy tag lines and vulnerable against good typography. I’m Don Draper’s ideal customer.

With that said, Sir Kensington’s condiments captivated me with its glass jars and clever packaging, but what sealed the deal was the monocle and top hat combo. Gets me every time.

The only thing better than its packaging is what’s inside. Rarely do products this well ‘dressed’ ever live up to my expectations, but believe me friends when I say, once you try these condiments you be like “Heinz who?”

Who is Sir Kensington you may ask? Well, he’s a fictitious merchant with impeccable style and quite a robust mustache. Which must mean he makes extremely delicious condiments, obviously.

… and here are a few of my favorites:

Classic Ketchup

SKC8

This ketchup is one of the best ketchups I’ve ever tried; the other two being, Trader Joe’s ketchup and Umami Burgers in-house ketchup. It has a strong tomato flavor with a hint of sweetness and a slight tartness. It’s a great, well-balanced ketchup that will compliment any burger, fry or anything else that suits your fancy.

Chipotle Mayonnaise

SKC10

To be honest, I’m not a big mayonnaise fan. I usually ask for no mayonnaise on my burgers, sandwiches, etc… There is just something about the gelatinous texture and the fact that it taste like its horribly bad for you, that just turns me off. However, there is something about this chipotle mayonnaise that makes the idea of it more appetizing to me.

To me, its more of an aioli. It has a smokey chipotle flavor, which is fantastic since I like my food spicy and although it has a creamy, rich texture its seems lighter and less gelatinous than traditional mayonnaise. They also have a Sriracha mayonnaise that I’m dying to try.

Spicy Brown Mustard

SCK5

Out of the three condiments I’ve tried, this is my favorite. This mustard is the mustard of my dreams. I have found myself purchasing specific foods just so I could use this mustard. I know.. it’s just mustard, but I’m obsessed.

It has flecks of ground mustard seed throughout and has a complex flavor profile. It has the perfect balance of tangy, sweet goodness and has just the right amount of heat. If you’re a spicy brown mustard fan, you need to try this NOW. No seriously, like.. right now.
